We worked with Roni Ilan’s group and Haim Beidenkopf’s WASP lab to show that crystal orientation and hinge symmetry determine whether Dirac surface states in SnTe nanowires remain extended or become confined. The work is published in SciPost Physics Core.

We worked with the Basov Laboratory and collaborators to observe propagating hyperbolic waves in ZrSiSe, where nodal-line plasmons hybridize with near-infrared light while the band structure suppresses interband loss. The work is published in Science Advances.

Ilia joined the group as a graduate student in 2022. He worked on quantum geometry, dielectric response, and disorder, and is now a postdoctoral researcher at Louisiana State University with Ahana Chakraborty.

Nish joins the group as a postdoctoral researcher, working on quantum geometry, superconductivity, and correlated quantum matter.

The 34th Annual Workshop on Recent Developments in Electronic Structure Theory will be held May 31-June 3, 2022 at Columbia University. This workshop series travels to a different institution within the US each year. This year, we will also celebrate Richard Martin's 80th birthday!

We worked with Leslie Schoop and collaborators to identify one-dimensional hypervalent bismuth chains as a structural motif for magnetic topological materials, illustrated by Sm3ZrBi5. The work is published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Zhi joined the group as an undergraduate researcher in 2022 and worked on frustrated hopping in Pd5AlI2. He is now a Physics PhD student at Boston University.

We worked with Leslie Schoop and collaborators to resolve the energy-momentum structure of the topological drumhead surface state in ZrSiTe using quasiparticle interference. The work is published in Physical Review B.
